Flag and freedom of speech

What we are seeing in the internal controversy between who are worry because the burning and damage of a national symbol, and those that are worry about freedom of speech, show up another of the domestic problem that I think needs receive some attention.

It’s seems that justice system in US is becoming more susceptible to be blackmailed, and unfortunately this weakness give to some international groups a lot of opportunities.

Millions of descent, working and peaceful citizens may see at TV how their highest values may be threaten and authorities appear to be ineffective (to say the less) to protect them. On the other hand few aggressive people may initiate that kind of actions without any opposition, and more over, with a lot of persons and organization very closely supervising to assure that nobody will limit their individual right to express themselves freely.

Of course the individual freedom of speech is one of the highest achievements of a civilized society. However it’s also very important to preserve national values that are the basement for the efforts that people have to do to provide a better place to the present and future generations.

The US flag, it’s also a symbol outside its country. It’s for many people a symbol of hope; that remembers us that with hard work and appropriate spiritual values, it’s possible build a strong and prospers community. But wait! This meaning must be also valid inside the borders! We may infer then, that those conditions are necessary to sustain the prosperity too.
